Completed NG+ 100% in Grand Magnus difficulty, here is my recommendation for useful skills and gears.

So NG+ unfortunately does not have some overall new move sets for enemies, devs does tweak the behavior so they are utilizing their strength more so whenever there is mixed colored group fight they pose more threat. But other than that overall difficulty aren’t that much harder than base NG at Grand Magnus.(especially the getting skills from scratch actually make NG a bit harder in the beginning I think.)

Now that’s getting out of way, here are my list of skills and gears and reason why I choose them for NG+.

Gears:

Blue sigil:

  • Tol-Adal: highest dps in blue, pierce enemies in straight line, good shred, this is my default blue sigil through out the game. (I only upgraded this to full)

  • Windomere: I equip this for the extra blink when needed.

  • Night’s End: If I mainly use blue spells then I will pick this one, it also provides better crit perk as blue main are all about crits.

Red Sigil:

  • Centanus: Simply use this for the highest dps, bonus it knock light enemy rolling and have quite the stun power for mid sized enemies. Harder to land crits however and have pretty limited effective range. I use this for about 70% of the run.

  • Bloodbane: I switch to this mostly for shooting Red wisp that flys really quickly and not much else. Damage wise Centanus is 20% more than this one. So I didn’t even upgrade this to full.

Green Sigil:

  • The Gale: I upgraded this to full and is the 2nd sigil on my list to max upgrade. This comes with really high recoil but with fairly good fire rate and reload speed. It does not rank highest DPS wise but is really versatile if you mix with the green Spellweaver skill where enemy under control spell gets 40% more damage from green sigils. Just do the burst fire manually and it’s recoil can be managed.

  • Eyes of the Kul: I upgraded this for lol because it’s the highest dps green sigil but after playing it against a couple boss char I still think the DPS does not justify it’s movement penalty, especially at Grand Magnus difficulty. Malestorm needs setup to use and deal damage properly, it’s good for slower moving boss or Archons but other than that not really good as you don’t have the shield health nor the HP to take down enemies faster.

  • Petricast: The best seekershard you can get. I am not a seekershard main so I don’t use/upgrade this.

Blue Totem:

  • Chains of Orphe: I use and upgrade this one because it increase the fire rate of green sigils. It essentially can push green sigils to highest dps of all 3 colors.(Green>Red>Blue dps ranking wise if pushing gear for each color specifically.)

  • Sansek: if you actually main use blue spells then this is the one you should upgrade.

Red Totem:

  • Lens of Light: Cause my main dps is Red this is the one I use and upgrade.

  • Eclipse: This is for people that need either more shield health or blue crit damage.

Green Totem:

  • Vial of the Deepmere: I equip this more during the end game area and upgrade to full because of it’s better + Green magic power stat.(which means more damage for green magic)

  • Lorrent: This is the DoT totem to use if you like the DoT effects. I equip and use this the first half of the game because the lower health pool means DoT could get rid of mobs quicker. (works really well with Blastwave and Timeburst if you upgraded them.

Rings:

  • Radiant Rings: The best over all ring if your main damage is sigil. But if you prefer one of the fury spell as your main damage dealer, you should still equip this one and use another ring slot for the spell specific ring.

  • Chaos and Life ring: upgraded both to full as they provide best + magic power for Red and Green. If you main Blue then it’s Force ring.

  • Rustborne Ring: best DoT enhance ring(+64% fully upgraded)

  • Gravitus: Blue crit +360%, but sigil damage -50%. This is the blue gamble ring, if you have really good aims, this would be better ones. Note, you can’t crit enemies that’s protected by shield, so if they shield up now with -50% damage it will take longer to shred, you probably need to juggle or have the Shred Punch skill as compliment.

Bracer:

  • Immortals Gauntlet: this is your damage oriented bracer +34% magic power fully upgraded. This is my bracer and 2nd piece to fully upgrade.(cause it benefit all sigils and fury spells.)

  • Stoneward: For people like more shield health

  • Xerexes : For people use fury as their main damage dealer.

  • Gatterond Wraps: for people that prefers mobility, IMO it’s not a good trade for extra blink and reduced blink charge time. Stoneward is a better choice for defensive option.(basically, if you can use Guard Punch and perfect block well, very few fight really needs that extra blink)

Furies:

  • Shatter: I don’t use this much and is something I will try to utilize more after the level cap bug fixed. no real recommendation here.

  • Blastwave: This is a good fight opener if you main Red cause the first upgrade corrosive let you deal extra 20% damage from red magic. I usually do this, blink(3 secs buff) and started shooting.

  • Torrent: I don’t use this much during my run cause I think the casting time is a bit too long and exposed. (shield off when casting any fury)

  • Bash: My go to big damage dealer when fighting boss. combined with Corrosive effect.

  • Vortex: I also don’t use this much as it has quite a bit of limitation. It does work against blue gestales though when I test run it during one of the shatterfane. I do not have enough skill points to upgrade this further.

  • Timeburst: I only get the first 2 upgrades for Decay and range. This spell also slow you down so the utility is really limited. But the range and decay is good so if you have some green focused enemy wave, just pop it and start checking/shooting.

Skills(ranked for general usefulness and utility):

  • +20/40/60% Magic power in each tree: this is your main damage booster skills and in term pretty much dictates how fast you can remove threat. I get them ASAP for red and green in NG and later blue in NG+.

  • Guard Punch: This is the level 1 mixed color perk that allows you to reset your shield and 10% shield heath by just punch any enemies once. It’s basically your life line for any crowded wave fight. If you do the keep away shoot from cover/range style this is not gonna help you much but that style is gonna give you more trouble later and blink is really limited as shield reset option.

  • Fast Shield: moving fast while shield up, yep, this helps you survive better but is a lv2 mixed colored perk. It is a heavy investment but IMO it’s worth the extra mobility while staying safe.

  • Burst Shield: This is the blue skill you can get really early on and is a surviving skill, when your shield breaks it pushes enemies back and gives you some breathing room. (another one Repel is a compliment where if enemies attack your shield they get bounced off if they are with in certain range. it’s less useful cause most enemies’ attack is gonna break your shield in Grand Magnus if you have stock shield strength)

  • Siphon Shield: This allows you to gain health your shields absorbed, 25% of your shield damage turns into health, it might not sound a lot but it helps when you are low. Essentially, this allows you to trade your Guard Punch/Shield Feint blink into health.

  • Shield Feint: Another shield reset skill, it’s a lv2 skill which you should be able to get as you get the fast shield. Basically each blink resets shield if broken, and recover 25% shield health.

  • Shred Punch: Breaks enemy shields with just 1 melee punch, it’s a costly lv2 skill but IMO it’s worth it especially against Blue Magnus.

  • Quick Step/Greater Blink: Blink is just a great survival tool, so this is what I get on my way to get the 20/40/60% magic power.

  • Perfect Block: This is very underrated skill and are really useful if you are good with it. It gives you full 1 sec invulnerability “after” shield is deployed. It can be used to face tank anything that any attack pattern that have longer than 0.5~0.8 second window. ie, you can perfect block Howler’s double wing slash. I think it’s possible to perfect block Echollector’s 3 hammer swings.

  • Sigil skills up to first 3 level: 3rd level gives you the shred magic explosion bonus AoE, it’s useful because Grand Magnus enemies likes to use their shield/armor/regen. Also it’s about 15% damage boost to sigils.

  • skills for your most commonly used control spell: My ranking is limpet > disrupt > lash. Limpet’s homing really well, short cast time, fire and forget, can apply Decay DoT. Disrupt works well when it’s 1v1 situation to trigger that spellbreak explosion(when enemy have yellow glow on their health bar, but the longer cast time is actually dangerous during crowd fight as any control spell removes shield. Lash I mostly use to pull blue gestales and archer/ranged enemy on a wall. You can pull yourself to a Guruk/Oathbroken/Archon.

  • skills for your favorite fury: This is so low simply because the perk given aren’t usually good(except the slot that gives corrosive/decay ones) I put it last on my NG run as well even when I go for a red build.

  • Decay Punch/Consuming Corrosion+Corrosive Punch: Allows you to apply DoT with melee attack, Consuming corrosion is a good extra for blastwave opening as it’s free damage.

  • Shield +20%/50%: well, shield is your replenish-able health bar, why not make it tank and recover more health?

  • LV3 skill: Green>Blue>Red, the big 3 point skill. This is purely NG+ point skill dump and you should get these(especially green if you use green as main or sub sigil) instead of other 2 points skill that aren’t useful. (ie. Timeburst 3rd). For Blue main of course you take the blue one first. It’s just that 40% damage boost for green sigils is really good. you basically see if enemy you can stick a limpet, then after stick limpet, empty your green sigil clip, reload and cast another limpet. You can kill green magnus really quickly once you get this final green tree skill and he is one of the most annoying enemy in GM mode.

If you saw my previous post’s magic power section, you know that any 2/3 points skill only ever gives you +5 magic power of that tree. So if you are aiming to get more magic power during NG run, you should prioritize skills that are useful with 1 points>skill that are essential/very useful with 2 points> rest skills that are with 1 points > 3 point skills > other 2 points skills. I almost got to 1k green magic power without active skill boost even though I build for red in the beginning.(simply put, gears that +Green Magic Power gives more in stat value than Red and then Blue for their counter parts. so if you find and try to build for max magic power, it’s easier to push Green higher than Red or Blue. It’s for balancing reason as Red has that lv2 sigil skill that every kill gives you +50 Magic power for 8 seconds and can stack 5 times, while blue have more gears/skills to push the crit damage. )
